  • Overview

    The Senior Associate, MEL position is focused on ensuring QED produces high-quality MEL products and services that meet or exceed QED and client expectations and demonstrate best practices, solidifying QED’s role as thought leaders in the MEL space. The purpose of this position is to provide technical inputs to project deliverables and business development efforts.

    Responsibilities

    ·        Provides technical oversight and support to MEL product design, implementation, and delivery

    ·        Supports business development proposals and processes

    ·        Identifies new business opportunities, partners, and consultants

    ·        Coordinates and collaborates with colleagues in MEL and other practice areas

    ·        Supports Project Directors in the performance management of Team Leaders and project; teams

    ·        Liaises with partner organizations on the contractually compliant delivery of agreed inputs and achievement of agreed outputs and outcomes

    ·        Assists in the Identification of project performance and contract issues and supports their timely resolution

    ·        Contributes to research, analysis and publication of technical studies, case studies, policy and program approaches, and results

    ·        Keeps abreast of political, social, economic, and security developments in project countries and regions

    ·        Contributes to corporate thought leadership practices

    ·        Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    ·        Master’s degree in a relevant field

    ·        Five years of experience with quantitative and qualitative MEL for international development programs

    ·        Two years of experience in working in a developing country or in a project-based environment

    ·        Experience contributing to or managing at least 1-2 successful major bids (including each of or a combination of structuring bid financials, team selection, drafting technical response and partner negotiations)

    ·        Technical expertise and experience in planning, monitoring, evaluation and research, including one or more of -

    o   Economics, development economics, private sector development;

    o   Agriculture and rural livelihoods, Market systems, M4P, and or value chains;

    o   Health sector;

    o   Security and justice sector;

    o   Civil society;

    o   Governance programs;

    o   Education sector; or

    o   Other similar development field.

    ·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    ·        Strong technical writing skills

    ·        Ability to conceptualize and write a bid proposal or project report

    ·        Sound business development and Client Relationship Management skills

    ·        Sound problem solving and decision-making skills

    ·        Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of eight weeks per year in developing countries and elsewhere

    ·        Ability to perform tasks and activities autonomously with minimal support
